Food Security & Environment Forum
The Food Security and Environment Forum (which used to called Rural Development Forum) of CCRDA is one of the seven thematic Forums operating under the auspices of CCRDA. It was established in November 2002 and officially launched on August 5, 2003 to serve as a platform for various actors working in the area of rural development.
Objective of the forum
The Forum’s main objectives are to engage in collective undertakings in the areas of action research, networking and proactively engage in advocacy and lobbying of common concerns on issues related to rural development specifically Food Security and Environment. The specific rationales for the establishment of the Rural Development Forum of CRDA are:
- The Forum provides opportunities to undertake action research and documentation of results to influence policy decisions and practices. The Forum helps to engage in policy debate and advocacy pertinent to food security and environment issues to act proactively by creating strategic alliance with other actors.
- The Forum would create an internal and external learning environment for promoting mutual partnership and developing culture of experience sharing among members.
- The Forum Provides opportunity to the NGO sector and the civil society at large for coherent data collection, compilation, analysis, interpretation and sharing of information. This would also contribute to the analysis and formulation of policy options pertinent to the above mentioned issues.
