Civil Society Forum has delivered a media briefing to national media on the impending threat of the coronavirus and the possible responses of member consortiums.

                                                                               

The briefing was held this morning at the CCRDA office with the presence of the forum leaders. The Board Chairman of the forum, Dr Nigussu Legesse has presented the forum’s position on the COVID 19 prevention measures. Critical issues ranging from the very personal responsibilities of citizens up to the corporate responsibilities of all types of organizations in general, and particularly members of the forum.

                                                                              

While recognizing the effort being made so far at national level, leaders of the forum present in the briefing complimented Dr Nigussu’s initial briefing by discussing the concerns the consortium would like to be addressed in a coordinated manner. Among the topics that were discussed, the following were the highlights of the day. The need to scale up efforts on areas like health facilities, public health professionals number and trainings, the gender side of the threats, the need to have personal protection equipment’s ( PPEs),  the need for sustained information from reliable sources , the possible coordination problem in mobilizing resources and the forum’s and their member organizations readiness to respond in their respective consortiums.  

After the briefing the leadership entertained questions raised by journalists. Finally the briefing ended by reiterating the forums resolve to play its part in the national effort to combat the epidemic and call upon its members, other stakeholders  to raise the bar in organizing and maintain the solidarity the forum has been forging.
